Privacy Policy
In short: Odira does not collect any data. Your trips, routes, places and vehicles stay on your iPhone and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your private iCloud account. Trip detection, text recognition and AI run on the device. We have no server, no user account, no advertising and no analytics or tracking services. We cannot see where you drive.

This policy applies to the iOS app “Odira” (bundle ID ch.neohorizon.Fahrtenbuch), including its widgets and Apple Watch app, and to this website. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What data the app processes
All of the following data is created on your device or entered by you. It is stored exclusively locally (Apple SwiftData, in the app’s protected storage).
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Trips: start and end time, start and destination address, simplified route, distance, odometer reading, category, purpose, client, notes | The mileage log itself, analyses, expenses and reports. |
| Change log with reason, time and checksum | Proof that trips have not been altered unnoticed (audit-proof records). |
| Vehicles (name, licence plate, type, odometer readings, name of the car’s Bluetooth connection) | Assigning trips, odometer reading and recognising the car. |
| Saved places and custom rules | Automatic assignment, for example “Office” or “Weekends always private”. |
| Settings (country, mileage rate, reminders, appearance) | Operating the app. |
| “Pro” purchase status | Unlocking the Pro features. Provided by Apple (see section 7). |
With the setting “Save private trips without location”, the app stores only the date, time and kilometres for private trips, without start, destination and route.
No third-party analytics, advertising or crash reporting services are built in. The app does not use an advertising ID and does not create usage statistics.
3. Location and motion
To detect trips, the app uses your iPhone’s location and motion activity. With the “Always” permission, this also happens in the background. Between trips, the app uses only significant location changes; precise GPS runs only during a trip. Motion activity (“in a car”) is used only to detect the start and end of a trip and is not stored. The app reads whether the iPhone is connected to the car (Bluetooth or CarPlay) from the audio connection; only the name you assign to a vehicle is stored. Location data leaves your device only in the cases described in section 4.
4. Apple Maps
For address search, to turn coordinates into an address and to calculate route distances, the app sends the relevant coordinates or search terms to Apple Maps. Processing is carried out by Apple in accordance with Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive any data in the process.
5. Text recognition and AI on the device
If you take a photo of the odometer, Apple Vision reads the odometer reading directly on your iPhone. The photo is not stored. If you take a photo of a receipt (fuel, charging, service, insurance, parking, toll), the app reads the amount, date, type and merchant, also on the device, and with Pro additionally with Apple’s on-device language model. The receipt photo is stored as a receipt in the app (and, with iCloud sync, in your private iCloud) so that it can appear in the PDF report. If you delete a receipt, the photo is deleted too. If Apple Intelligence is available and turned on, the app uses Apple’s on-device language model (Foundation Models) to suggest the purpose of a trip and to answer questions in “Ask your mileage log”. Both run entirely on the device; no content is transmitted to us, to Apple or to third parties.
6. Calendar and contacts (optional, Pro)
If you turn on calendar matching, the app reads events around a trip (title, location, time) to suggest the purpose. Events are neither stored nor modified.
If you turn on “Purpose from contacts”, the app reads the name, company and postal address of your contacts. Each address is converted once into coordinates via Apple Maps (in the process, the address is sent to Apple, see section 4). Name, company and coordinates are stored only on the iPhone in order to suggest the company as a partner for a trip to that address. Contacts are not modified. When you turn this off, the app deletes the stored addresses.
You can revoke both types of access at any time in the iOS settings.
7. In-app purchases
Pro subscriptions and the one-time purchase are handled entirely through Apple’s App Store. We do not receive or store any payment data. Via Apple StoreKit, the app only reads whether a valid purchase exists. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
8. iCloud synchronisation (optional, Pro)
If you turn on iCloud sync, the data listed in section 2 (except the purchase status) is stored in the private database of your iCloud account (Apple CloudKit) so that it is the same on all your devices. Only you have access. We as the developer cannot view this data. You can turn off sync at any time; you delete data in iCloud in your device’s iCloud settings.
9. iPhone features
- Notifications: Questions after a trip and reminders about the 7-day deadline are local notifications scheduled by your iPhone itself. We do not operate any push servers.
- Widgets, Live Activity, Apple Watch, Siri and Shortcuts: The app passes selected information (for example kilometres for the month, open trips, trip in progress) to the system of your devices. The Apple Watch receives it directly from the iPhone. None of this goes through us.
10. Exports, monthly report and accounting
The app creates reports (PDF), verification files, CSV and accounting files (DATEV, BMD) as well as backups on your device and hands them over via the iOS share sheet to the destination of your choice, for example your accountant. What happens to the file afterwards is up to you.
Monthly report by email: The recipient’s name and email address that you enter stay on the device. The app only prepares the email; it is sent via your mail app and your email account, and only when you tap “Send”.
bexio (optional, Pro): If you store a personal bexio access token, the app saves it in your iPhone’s keychain. If you tap “Send to bexio”, the app transmits the entries for the selected month directly to bexio AG (api.bexio.com): date, receipt no., booking text (with vehicle name and km), amount and account numbers. For this purpose, it reads your chart of accounts and the currencies from bexio. Individual trips, addresses and locations are not transmitted. The data in bexio is subject to bexio’s privacy policy.
11. Disclosure to third parties
We do not disclose any data to third parties and do not sell any data. The only recipients are the Apple services you use yourself (Apple Maps, iCloud, App Store) and bexio, if you send entries there yourself (section 10).
12. Retention and deletion
Data remains stored for as long as you keep it in the app. Because a mileage log must be traceable, individual trips are not deleted but voided; they remain visible in the log together with the reason. Deleting the app removes all local data. You delete data in iCloud via the iCloud settings. Observe statutory retention periods for business records before you delete data.
13. Support by email
If you write to us, we use your email address and the content of your message only to reply to you. We delete the correspondence once it has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligation applies.
14. This website
This website does not set cookies, does not use analytics services and does not embed any third-party content. It is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Switzerland. When the site is accessed, the server stores technically necessary information (IP address, time, page accessed, browser) in log files to ensure secure operation. These logs are not analysed and are automatically deleted after a short period.
15. Your rights
Since we do not receive any data from the app, all data is in your hands: you handle access, export and deletion directly in the app. If you have any questions, please contact support@neo-horizon.com. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority; in Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
16. Changes
If this policy is amended, we will publish the new version at this address with an updated date.
